About the book >.>.> The Old Quarry Harriet Matilda Morgan’s Sophia and Braich. The Railway’s route was a compromise to serve each as nearly as possible. The distance from first to last quarry thus served was approxi- mately 1400 yards. In a separate group of workings and at the time of the Plan without confirmed rail communication was a cluster below the above-listed and nearer the Peris-shore: Ellis Turner Bryn-Llys Hafod Owen (or Wellington) Millington Victoria (or Diphwys) which later found themselves better placed for the terminus of The Padarn Railway. Lastly the group of smaller quarries along and above the Padarn shore and from the west included Boundary with above it Fach-Wen (leased to Shelton & Greaves in 1834 losing Shelton in the early 1840s and becoming Greaves’ Quarry by 1864 only producing 550 tons yearly at that time perhaps emphasising land boundary doubts here- abouts) Vaynol Ladas and Vivian. Additionally there were quite a dozen smaller quarries in this area both above and at the water’s edge all in easy reach of The Padarn Railway but leaving no surviving traces of any intrinsic connection.
