About the book >.>.> The liberality of the publishers has enabled me to invite the collaboration of Mr. R. L. Hobson who has rewritten the Chinese and Japanese sections of the book and has revised the notes on Italian Spanish Persian and Turkish pottery. This arrangement has enabled me to devote more attention to the English and Continental sections and these have been thoroughly revised with the advantage of fresh information rendered available by many recently published works by eminent authorities. The important group of French soft paste factories have been more fully described and notices concerning them re- arranged in chronological order special reference being made to the collection of specimens recently given to the Victoria and Albert Museum by Mr. Fitzhenry. Decorators marks have been added to the list of S?vres artists from MM. de Chavagnac et de Grollier’s Histoire des porcelaines Fran?aises- This list should now be complete. The history of German stonewares is more fully described and some interesting par ticulars given from Otto von Falke’s Das Rheinische Steinzug. The notices of the group of Thuringian factories have been rewritten according to the latest information given by MM. Graul and Kurzwelly whose work has thrown new light on the history of these German fabriques. (OS)
