A new unused book.

About the book >.>.> The minster and collegiate church of Westbury- on-Trym has had an association with several leading figures of English history: St Oswald in the tenth century St Wulfstan in the late eleventh Godfrey Giffard in the late thirteenth and John Wycliffe and John Trevisa in the fourteenth. Its reconstruction by John Carpenter in the fifteenth made it an outstanding example of the collegiate churches founded in England during the later middle ages. This volume provides a complete history of the community and its architecture from its earliest known existence in about AD 700 to its dissolution in 1544; a detailed account of its location building and ancillary structures; and a list of all known clergy of the foundation with brief biographies. The resulting information throws light not only on Westbury but on the wider Church history of England especially the history and architecture of minsters and collegiate churches. (SP)
