About the book >.>.> Major General R.E. Urquhart is best remembered for his part in the Battle of Arnhem during which he commanded the 1st Airborne Division in one of the bitterest battles of World War II. Between 1950 and 1952 he was also significantly involved in the successful campaign against the communist terrorists in Malaya laying the foundations on which General Templer was later able to build his reputation as saviour of the country. This biography traces Urquhart’s life from his time as a junior officer in the Highland Light Infantry to his successful second career in the steel industry after 34 years in the Army.
