He recently retired with the rank of lieutenant-colonel.His dramatic experiences in World War II as captive escaper from Colditz rescuer of Allied pilots and soldiers from behind the enemy lines are recorded in this book. During his military service he was awarded the D.S.O. ?.?.?. M.C. and was mentioned in despatches. He holds the French Croix de Guerre and American Bronze Star and is officer of the Order of Oranje Nassau of the Netherlands.THE BOOKIt was summer 1940. In the last stand before Dunkirk Second Lieutenant Airey Neave Royal Artillery became a captive for General Fieldmarshal Keitel’s prison camps. A few weeks later a big grey tourer passed the British wounded in a cloud of dust. “The Reichsmarschall -unser Hermann” said an excited German. But Neave was too weak to care that this was Goering bound for Calais to inspect preparations for theinvasion of England. October 1945 and on an afternoon of autumn sunlight Major Neave served on Keitel prisoner of Nuremberg a copy of his Indictment. (LL)
