About the book >.>.> This book has been one big project one big conversation. An extensive and evolving dialogue which we have shaped and formed into the format in which you find it. Over the past two years we have worked with tutors artists curators researchers and students. Throughout the ongoing discussion and exchange has reaffirmed our curiosity to develop our own understanding of the possibilities of drawing. In working with such a diversity of people we have put an emphasis on understanding the process of what drawing represents and means to each individual. An interesting communality to emerge is how the medium of drawing is used as a primary means of expression but also as a quiet intimate. hidden introspective activity. A means to access and process thoughts work through ideas and understandings and release intuitive gestures and feelings. Throughout the value of the process of making drawings has been seen as a profound and significant one by the majority of people involved. A range which has been as broad as to encompass students who have had very little experience of drawing through to internationally established practitioners and experts in their field. in the context of this inclusive approach this book is a wander through a series of linked thoughts about drawing. It is not an attempt to define drawing in fixed material terms. On the contrary. this book represents our shared and collective exploration of the thinking process and activity of making drawings. In part this book’s conception and realisation has been driven by other people’s ability to mirror our excitement for drawing. (MP)
