About the book >.>.> Early historical records indicate that guns of one form or another were used by Edward III during the so-called Hundred Years War between England and France. Manuscripts record their use at the Battle of Cricy in 1346 and at the Siege of Calais. Those weapons were of little strategic use however as the weight of their structure meant that transporting them to the scene of battle was a laborious process the gun carriage being a multi-axle cart drawn by large teams generally of oxen. Being essentially either siege or garrison weapons they were often cast at the location (MP)
