About the book >.>.> This is a story of a few people who got together in the last decade of the reign of George II; carrying on for over 75 years through the reigns of George III George IV William IV and ending finally midway through the reign of Queen Victoria in total time spanning over a century of active endeavour. It was a Partnership formed originally to carry on Copper Smelting in Cornwall and it operated successfully in that field for over 60 years. It then changed to become Ironfounders Engineers and manufacturers of the world-famous Cornish Steam Engines not only for the mines of Cornwall but also exporting them all over the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. It had always conducted a substantial merchanting business supplying the mines factories and domestic premises of West Cornwall. It was a Partnership that at various times during its life of over a century consisted of a Baron Baronets Knights Admirals Solicitors a distinguished Geologist a Scientist and a metallurgist as well as prominent men in banking merchanting and other fields and thus cannot be lightly overlooked as it seems to have been. Historians save for one lone voice have tended to ignore its existence. That lone voice belonged to the late T.R. Harris of Camborne who over a long span of years has published several articles about the Cornish Copper Company. His forbears and many of those of mine were CCC employees for two or more generations. Growth was greatly sustained in the early years of the Partnership by the effect which an ever-strengthening Methodist influence had on the workforce and this despite the counter attractions of Wrecking-with the frightening Breage and Germoe men living only a few miles to the south and Smuggling – then at the height of its activity with Captain Carter the King of Prussia at the head of the organisation.
