About the book >.>.> Defeating the Triumphs of Jack Marshall and Frank Hulbert in the single- cylinder class. Meanwhile Rem Fowler (Norton) won the twin-cylinder class; but overall finishing order was first Collier second Marshall third Fowler. Charlie was awarded a ?25 prize and the magnificent Tourist Trophy. Harry had retired on lap nine (of 10) with a broken exhaust valve. In 1908 Charlie narrowly missed out on another win (finishing second) while in 1909 it was Harry’s turn to be victor and then in 1910.possibly the firm’s finest hour as Charlie won with his brother runner-up. However once the TT moved to the Mountain course the brothers’ run of success had come to an end- later high spots included a second in the 1911 Junior and fourth in the 1912 Senior for Charlie with Harry fourth then third in 1911 and 1912 Senior TTs. Though the best days in the Isle of Man had passed there was a memorable match race series against American Jake de Rosier (Indian) which the American claimed two-one with both men lapping Brooklands at over 80mph and also 90mph-plus laps at Brooklands. However business was taking up more and more of the brothers’ time. By now the range included singles and V- twins with side valve and ohv options. though by the time WWI broke out the range consisted of just three 8hp MAG V-twin machines then in 1916 production was ended as demanded by the government. During WWI the works were engaged in munitions work with motorcycle production resuming in 1919 with models including the swinging-arm framed electric lighting equipped Model H. It all pointed to a bright future.
