About the book >.>.> When I arrived in the Swedish region of Dalarna I was unaccountably moved by the color of the clear blue sky. The deep blue of the lakes was surrounded by blankets of snow. It was as though I were being welcomed into a dream world. I am not known for using the color blue in my quilts; however I began to love the transparent blue that I saw in the sky. Blue can be difficult to work with as just a little bit can go a long way in a quilt but the Swedes have perfected their use of this color. For example I saw a little old gray church with a blue chair on the porch. It was the perfect setting for this pop of color. It was also often used as an interior accent color in the houses that I visited. I was so inspired by the charming world of blue I found myself in I quickly began designing. One antique quilt was particularly memorable. It was a Log Cabin design rustic in its simplicity as though the creator didn’t have much fabric to work with. It reminded me of antique American quilts. although the batting used was loftier and made it quite warm. (LL)
