About the book >.>.> It is a sad fact that although there is now a great deal of interest in Private Owner Wagons there was little interest when the wagons were in service and consequently very few records remain. From information that does remain I have put together this third volume of photographs covering wagons from various parts of the country built by various manufacturers Many of the illustrations are from private sources and in several cases they represent the only known records of some of the smaller wagon builders. At this point I should like to make a plea particularly to industrialists who occupy premises once owned by wagon builders. If there are any old photographs remaining could you please let me know. I take this unusual step for I know of one substantial collection that was burnt not long ago as it was assumed that the photographs were of no value. (LL)
