About the book >.>.> A native Service Book. In doing this I have divided the book into two parts. The first eight chapters deal with events up to the creation of the Liturgical Commission in 1955. The remaining seven chapters which bring the study down to 1980 are autobiographical because that seemed to me to be the most convenient way of writing them. I must emphasize it is my personal view of events. Others may see them rather differently. If that be the case I hope that what I have written may provoke or inspire them into recording their own impressions. This will certainly help some future historian or liturgist to produce a much more objective account of this massive and complicated operation. Quite a lot of material already exists in print. Apart from the Reports and Proceedings of the Convocations the Church Assembly and the General Synod together with a sizeable number of booklets and articles Colin Buchanan former Bishop of Aston has produced three books on Anglican Eucharistic Liturgies innumerable Grove Liturgical Studies and his regular News of Liturgy. His industry has been truly amazing and I am greatly indebted to his writings. Geoffrey Cuming was also of great help not least by his addition of a further chapter in the second edition of his A History of Anglican Liturgy bringing the story down to 1980. (SP)
