About the book >.>.> Early in 1900 the ?p?e was introduced to English fencing when Mr. Charles Newton Robinson invited Professor Anthime Spinnewyn a well-known French master to give lessons in London. A display of ?p?e fencing was given at the Steinway Hall on 4th May 1900 by Professor Spinnewyn and other French swordsmen and the next day the first English open ?p?e tournament was held at the Inns of Court School and was won by Monsieur Willy Sulzbacher of Paris. Shortly afterwards the Ep?e Club was founded to develop the use of the ?p?e de combat in this country. (LL)
