About the book >.>.> This is the latest work by Lawrence Dalton undoubtedly one of the most successful authors in the Rolls-Royce field. His first book on the subject Those Elegant Rolls-Royce’ was published in 1967 at five guineas a copy and the first edition has become a collector’s item. That and all sub- sequent books by him have been not only a continuing source of interest and pleasure but respected works of reference widely quoted throughout the world. The Derby Phantoms is another typically comprehensive ‘Dalton’ book covering the Phantoms I II and III in the well-known format of his earlier productions. It is the first of its kind to be produced by the Club rather than by a commercial publishing house. There are over 540 photographs many specially researched from the extensive archives of the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation and never previously published; others have been located from the files of coachbuilders (often long defunct) and a few are recently taken photographs. To put these models into the perspective of their time also included are reprints of Sales Brochures together with con temporary road tests for each model.
