Clovisse who has created a little Garden of Eden down beside her brother Fingal’s smokehouse is assembling a cheese wedding cake for an order. Rosie arrives and then Fingal’s wife Ciara walks around the corner with Euan the youngest grandchild in her arms. The dressers in this beautiful country kitchen are laden with an ecleletic mix of family treasures and Giana’s ‘finds Here is a Irish farming family three generations that love and nurture the land that has been passed down from father to son and eventually to grandson and great grandson. They have found their own way to survive and prosper so they can live on the beautiful West Cork land that they love. In 1975 Giana decided to try her hand at cheesemaking with some of the surplus milk at a time when we were all a nation of ‘Calvita eaters – the beautiful wrinkly washed rind cheese became known as Gubbeen after the townland where it was made.
