About the book >.>.> Consequently in 1925 Rousselot began a systematic search of hundreds of boxes of records in the archives of the army. There among other things he found samples of uniform cloth that had never been exposed to the fading effect of sunlight reports of inspectors general and even examples of uniforms and equipment. Rousselot described his best sources as contemporary iconography contemporary paintings miniatures na?ve portraits (often of absolute fidelity he said) archives reports and correspondence. It was not long before he became accepted by French military historians and uniformologists as a leading expert on the design of French uniforms arms and equipment. Increasingly his opinions on these subjects were sought by individuals and institutions alike. In due course he was elected a member of the Scientific Council of the Mus?e de l’Arm?e. (MP)
