About the book >.>.> This artist book was published on the occasion of Lili Reynaud-Dewar’s Teeth Gums Machines Future Society (TGMFS) a project starting with a key performance in the Levitt Shell in Memphis Tennessee and consisting of a film a series of exhibitions and variations of the original performance. Lili Reynaud-Dewar made the film in Memphis in May 2016 working with her long-term collaborator noise musician Hendrik Hegray Detroit- based artist Ashley Cook and four local stand-up comedians: Jada Brisentine Darius Clayton Henry Coleman Brandon Sams. The latter engaged in deep conversations with Lili Reynaud-Dewar recorded at Darius Clayton’s comedy and po- etry club The Den. These interviews are printed at the end of this publication. They revolve around questions of health politics race humor violence and the history of Memphis as a core city of the Civil Rights Mo- vement. Stills and the complete dia- logues of the film make up the beginning of this book. The following chapters consist of documentation of the different iterations of TGMFS. The first exhibition took place at Kunstverein in Hamburg from Sep- tember 24 until November 20 2016. The film was presented against a monumental backdrop with excerpts of A Cyborg Manifesto by Donna (SP)
