About the book >.>.> Most of the Pinto Collection was as- sembled during the last 30 years but in a humble way I commenced collecting with schoolboy pennies. The pence were limited; although they grew to shillings soon after I started earning money it was only about 1930 that the collection began to grow rapidly. When I married my wife caught the collecting ‘disease’ and thenceforth our home filled and our pocket emptied twice as fast! I was fortunate in being able to inte- grate my work with my hobby and was able to make various aspects of design and craftsmanship in wood my living until 1964 when I retired. This background combined with collecting initiated a se- quence of events which finally led to the public opening of the collection: first came requests to write articles for technical and art journals next followed books (which included Treen) lectures broadcasts tele- vision and participation in judging for competitions and bursaries in various branches of wood craftsmanship.
