About the book >.>.> The exhibition The Swords and the Sorrows was held at the Visitor Centre on Drumossie Moor from 16 April to 20 September 1996 to mark the Jacobite Rising of 1745 and Battle of Culloden in 1746. We would particularly like to thank Geoffrey Jenkinson for suggesting the exhibition of commemoration and for lending his finest swords. The exhibition gathered together many battle-related objects with a connection with the ’45. Most are of the period or earlier the majority were of Scottish workmanship of the highest quality and as far as possible had not been exhibited before. April 16 was the date of the battle and 20 September the date that Prince Charles left Scotland. The exhibition was organised by John Batty Assistant Curator The National Trust for Scotland. Exhibition and catalogue designed by Ian Boyter Chief Designer The National Trust for Scotland. (LL)
