About the book >.>.> Sara Hild?n was born in Tampere in 1905. She spent her childhood with her grandparents at Lemp??l? just south of Tampere and moved at the age of 14 to Tampere where she lived at first with a family with which she was familiar. She obtained work as a sales assistant in a clothes shop and she progressed well in her career. Sara Hild?n was interested in literature the theatre and the cinema. Her circle of friends included artists from different fields such as ceramic artist Rut Bryk who married Tapio Wirkkala in 1945. Sara Hild?n met Helsinki artist Erik Enroth through friends and they married in 1949. Encouraged by her husband Sara Hild?n opened her own fashion boutique Muotitalo Hild?n. She gradually ex- panded her business both in Tampere and Lahti and her fash- ion shops flourished. During the time of her marriage Sara Hild?n had an ideal opportunity to acquaint herself more closely with art as well as the inside workings of the art world and its experts. When her marriage with Erik Enroth broke up at the beginning of the 1960s Sara Hild?n faced a new stage in her life. Her friend Professor E. J. Vehmas who was the assistant director at the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki strongly encouraged her to start collecting art. Sara Hild?n had both the enthusiasm and the financial means to further her interest in culture and the pictorial arts. The idea was to build up the collection with the help of art experts and to place the works on long-term loan at a later date in the Ateneum which had not the financial capacity to acquire international contemporary art Art histo- tian Salme Sarajas-Korte.
