About the book >.>.> I created Fondazione In Between Art Film to support artists institutions curators and writers in the field of moving images which is a creative domain very dear to me. I think that because art is everywhere everything we see is potentially a video or a film and to decide that depends only on how we look. It was to honor and expand this ever-changing space of imagination that I initiated the Fondazione with the desire to put artists in the position to realize their visions and explore the many forms that moving images can assume as artistic media from film and video to installation. What I love about commissioning is that you allow a new work to come to life that otherwise may not exist. It is an act of trust in the artists’ vision because you never know the final result. Penumbra was the first exhibition conceived and produced by the Fondazione and I would like to thank the artists that accepted our invitation to create a new work for the fascinating location of the Complesso dell’Ospedaletto in Venice. We thought and dreamt together saw the works realized and continued to pursue their circulation. For this reason my deepest gratitude goes to Karimah Ashadu Jonathas de Andrade Aziz Hazara He Xiangyu Masbedo James Richards Emilija ?karnulyte and Ana Vaz for infusing their works with poetic rigor and political impetus and for making us look unflinchingly at the tensions and hopes of our present.
