About the book >.>.> Carl Buchheister born 1890 in Han- nover began to paint as a self-taught artist in 1919 after the breaking off of a training in business. Initially objective works were created which show him searching for his form of expression. In 1923 when he was 33 he created the first lyrical abstractions. These first non-objective paintings and drawings try to convert emotions and sentiments into images. They show an emotional capacity that reaches from tender and lyrical moods to the strongest affects. But as early as 1925 very soon after s the first abstract paintings the first con- -structive paintings emerge with which he stepped in line with the early con- structivists in Europe. The work with geometrically defined constructive forms characterizes his paintings until his ostracism as a degenerate artist This turning to a rationally determined mode of creation was certainly.
