About the book >.>.> At the time I was working in Cryogenics at the Clarendon Laboratory Oxford the war-time home to many eminent scientists. I was corresponding with Professor R.V.Jones war-time head of scientific intelligence and casually asked him whether he knew anything of Group Captain Felkin as they had been in the same ‘line of business”. The Professor replied that he had known the Group Captain since March 1940 and he felt that the award to Felkin of an O.B.E. was a meagre almost insulting reward for the tremendous work that Felkin had done in the Second World War. Professor Jones was also able to give me an idea of Denys Felkin’s background and knew that he had retired to Jersey. It was through this lead I was able to contact Anne Walton his daughter. Anne was able to fill in a few more details about her father although much of his wartime career remained a mystery to her as he rarely if ever spoke about his work. Samuel Denys although everyone called him Denys was born 18th August 1894. His mother died when he was eight he had a sister eleven years older and a brother four years older than himself. (LL)
