About the book >.>.> This year 2019 constitutes a decisive stage in my career as an art dealer which began 23 years ago. In fact after much anticipation the doors of the Maastricht fair have finally opened. For me this represents a certain ratification by my peers made possible by all the collectors who have contributed to my success. I realize today what I owe to my father an antiquarian who transmitted his passion for painting to me and I think of my modest beginnings in the Drouot quarter: what a road has been travelled! This new one published on the occasion of TEFAF offers beautiful discoveries of paintings and works on paper which have brought us a lot of joy in their acquisition and during documentary research. The 18th century is obviously honored. You will appreciate our beautiful portrait of an aristocrat by Liotard: a genuine psychological masterpiece realized on parchment. Jean-Baptiste Greuze captures our attention with a very loose powerful sanguine which summarizes his talents as a great draughtsman. We evolve in modernity with a fusain by Firmin Baes depicting the artist’s wife using chiaroscuro effects with quasi photographic realism. (SP)
