About the book >.>.> Have you ever wondered how Huccloente got its name? My investigations have led me to believe that it came from the Celtise saate for de area -UCHEL COED-which onesnt high woods or lofty treet-today we know it as Hocke Barnwood Gravel Pit later know Gloucester Stone Co. and today as Barnwood Buildes fon the border of Haceri was an ancient burial ground during the Ice Age Sason and ahp Roman times. In 1987 the remains of a female (Roman) were found here with bronze bangles still on her arms and at the same time 2 decorative hairpins and pieces of pottery were uncovered dating back to the first century A Roman Villa discovered in Churchdown Lane (situated under what was the Secondary School rugby pitch) in 1910 and excavated more thoroughly in 1933 is about 90 feet long and 60 feet wide Another site in Hucclecote was found in 1957 in the Trevor Road area and described as the badly robbed remains of a bath block and a year later a stone coffin containing the body of a 25 year old female was found close by.
