About the book >.>.> It is said of Leonardo da Vinci that one day he awoke from his slumber opened his eyes and found that the rest of the world was still asleep. As an illegitimate child he was not permitted to learn Latin or Greek the languages of art and scholarship in the fifteenth century. He was not permitted to enter the legal or medical professions. Many doors were closed to him-so he simply invented new doors. He became along with Michelangelo and Rafael one of the three most heralded painters of his era and produced the single most famous painting in history: the Mona Lisa. Even today almost five hundred years after his death he is considered among the half-dozen greatest artists Western civilization has produced. And yet despite the esteem in which his art is held Leonardo was much more than simply a painter. His extensive notebooks show that he had a profound know ledge of human anatomy at least partially obtained from dissecting corpses. His knowledge of birds and some domestic animals was almost as great.
