About the book >.>.> The library has an outstanding collection of books pamphlets periodicals maps and technical drawings relating to the history of conflict in the twentieth century. Many of the items in our col- lection are unique and this has provided the impulse behind the current programme of facsimile reprints. Our aim is both to increase the availabil- ity of certain rare items in our collection and to preserve the originals against further deterioration an inevitable consequence of their use. We intend in addition to include with each reprint an Introduction by a mem- ber of our research staff which will place the item in its historical context. The future of this venture and more generally of the collection itself depends upon the success these facsimile reprints flad with the public. Given that consideration we hope in time to build a catalogue of unique titles hitherto unavailable to the student of twentieth century history. (MP)
