About the book >.>.> The mutualistic symbiotic relationship between humans and dogs has been found to extend back for more than 30000 years. Perhaps continuing research will push this date back even further – speculation based on findings in caves has placed a date of up to 300000 years ago on the beginning of the dog/human partnership. Our relationship with dogs has proved to be beneficial for both species on several levels including the emotional which demonstrates that our dependence upon one another goes past a mere physical need. It is quite easy to imagine how our relationship with dogs began when humans were living around so many large and dangerous beasts. During the Paleolithic era when most scientists agree that we and dogs got together humans not only had to contend with large dangerous herbivores like mammoths wooly rhinoceros and aurochs but also with animals that preyed directly on them such as cave lions wolves and cave bears. Dogs would have provided not only some protection against these predators especially in union with their humans but also as an early warning system.
