About the book >.>.> This book along with a volume devoted on the pictorial history of the American paratroopers in the invasion of Normandy are designed to provide an overview of all the uniform items that were shared by the American paratroopers who participated in the aerial invasion of Normandy on June 6 1944 The project of doing this study was born out of the lack of a book covering the pictorial history of the American paratroopers in Normandy As a WWII airborne uniform collector I always wanted to be able to use a book contai- ning all the Normandy photographs taken and published here and there to lead my research in Airborne uniform history. Having to glance through many books (some exceedingly well done) to find a particular photograph I was looking for I undertook to write the book I felt was much needed. Through the years I found that many pho- tographs were in a misplaced context by being captioned in a wrong location a wrong date or even worse a wrong campaign. Countless hours have been spent in correspon- ding with Airborne veterans in travelling through Europe and America to meet collectors and historians and to visit museums libraries and archives to find exact locations and identify of the troopers on photographs.
