About the book >.>.> We both really like birds and do what we can to keep them around. Some of them are here throughout the winter and are happy to partake of the seeds and bread crumbs that we hang up or set out in bowls and on trays And when spring comes we’re always happy when we hear our seasonal friends twittering outside our bedroom window for the first time. After the ice and snow melt we can count on seeing the same pair of red-breasted mer gansers that come back year after year to nest in the area around the water near our house. It’s always a welcome visit! In the summer it’s showtime when Mom and Dad fly into the birdhouse to feed their young-not to then tion the charming spectacle the little ones make when they squeak and peep to make it absolutely clear that they want to have dinner. It’s with a certain sadness that w? see the migratory birds fly south in the autumn even if we know they ‘Il faithfully return home in the spring but we still have our winter bird to keep us company. So we live with birds throughout the year and they give us much happiness and inspiration. It hasn’t always been that way. In the summer of 2000 when we had just moved into Tons?sen Station in Etnedal Valdres Norway we found to our great des ppointment that we didn’t have any birds around the house When we think back to that time we realize we shouldn’t have been surprised-no one had lived there since 1988 and there was no garden to entice the buds We did our best to fure the birds back we built birdhouses and were careful to leave plenty of food in the winter And sure enough they found us eventually (LL)
