Ray’s solitary leave-me-alone stance was turned on its car Stevie turned the afternoon into a talk fest-no one can resist Stevie and the two men discussed the subtleties of synthesizers for hours. Similarly Stevie marched into Marvin Gaye’s Sunset Strip studio Marvin was blocked looking for a new idea a fresh riff. Within seconds Stevie had the motif Marvin was searching for. Stevie gave up the melody with unrestrained generosity. The two joked and jostled and when stevie finally left his aura was felt long into the night as Marvin scuplted the melody into a song he called Praise. (MP)
