About the book >.>.> The lines became part of the Southern Region of British Railways spon nationalisation in 1948 except for some commercial aspects for which the Western Region was responsible until 1958. That region took total control on 1st January 13 and through working from Waterloo-crasedon 5th September 1964. Passenger services between Torrington and Halwill were withdrawn on 1st March 1985 and total closure took place south of Merth that day also Barnstaple-Torrington passenger trains continued until 2nd October 1965 and trains for clay ran until 13th September 1982 the line also being used for bulk milk traffic until 12th October 1978. The final special train ran to Torrington on 27th January 1983. (LL)
