About the book >.>.> Hoping to be back by the 17th Where is Richle playing? Back referring to Trinidad (where I am now looking northeastwards. I suppose towards where they are heading) and Richie being Richie Spice Neal and Steve are close friends and fellow painting students of Chris’s when he was a young BA student at Chelsea in the late 1980s. I was at the same establishment for a one-year MA albeit in a different building and locale-a mature student being thirty years old In my first month I had to make a slide presentation of my work to the BA students This is when I first met Chris. This was an excellent group of students in fact possibly one of the better groups that I can remember Chris and I still talk about this time and about some of the work that was made by our fellow students. The painting studios at Chelsea were full and overflowing with work paint and discussion. There was a great enthusiasm for the material in some quarters and a distrust of it in others this made the debate strong and positions were taken. I remember being brought to task over some of the imagery in my work by a student who had recently denounced painting as his practice. (OS)
