About the book >.>.> Cutting and collage has always appealed to me. To this day I remember how proud I felt at age five when my first teacher told me how proficient I was at cutting. (Thank you very much Mrs. Hansford!) But I knew I was completely hooked when I got to high school and college and was surrounded by incredible supportive teachers with enthusiasm for art and crafts. After a few years experimenting with different mediums I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Surface Pattern Design at Leeds College of Art and Design. With a bit of tech knowledge under my belt I left the rolling hills of West Yorkshire England moved to London and then went on to complete a Master of Arts degree at Central Saint Martins in Future Textile Design. This cemented my passion for a more craft-based approach to art and design. I completed a couple of internships and part-time jobs with large design firms specializing in print and pattern but deep down knew that I wanted to create my own work based on personal experiences rather than what the trends predicted. So I packed up my craft kit got a job in a museum gift shop to pay the bills and started snipping the things that inspired me. This led me on a voyage of discovery and at this point the artists designers and styles that had influenced my work really began coming into play. Folk art botanical art and mid-twentieth-century design all translate very well into collage. (MP)
