About the book >.>.> Since their conception in the early part of the Second World War the Commandos have captured the imagination of the public by their courage toughness and deadly skills. Of these commandos perhaps none is more famous than 45 Commando Royal Marines. Formed in 1942 the Commando saw action in France and Holland particularly in the gruelling battles of Montforterbeck and Belleisle and at times led the advance into Germany. Here one might think the Commando’s usefulness had ended for it seemed unlikely that there would ever be another ‘total war’. But ‘Four Five’ and its sister units won their right to stay on the strength the hard way. Following their successful handling of the Malayan situation Four Five served with distinction in Hong Kong East Africa and Kuwait but they are chiefly remembered by the public for their part in the Suez campaign when they made the first ever opposed helicopter landing and for their tremendous work in Aden. This is the story of Four Five not only of their undoubted courage and skill but also of their tact and patience when dealing with explosive situations such as Northern Ireland. It is also a tribute to all Commandos whoever they are and wherever they fought. (SP)
