About the book >.>.> We owe this exhibition to Ralph Hyde Keeper of Prints and Maps at the Guildhall Library City of London. Four years ago he spent several weeks at the Yale Center for British Art as a Visiting Fellow. During his stay he became aware of the strength of the Center’s holdings of the Abbey Collection of illustrated books especially in his field of interest and expertise. His proposal for an exhibition devoted to urban landscapes resulted directly from that visit. At the Center Joan Friedman Curator of Rare Books encouraged the idea and once it was adopted became the curator in charge of the exhibition. She has coordinated the efforts of all concerned and has benefited from the support of her colleagues throughout the building. I list in alphabetical order those names she particularly wishes to mention: Tim Balboni Henry Bayer Susan Casteras Constance Clement Theresa Fairbanks Tim Goodhue Patricia Howell Marilyn Hunt Arthur Jorio Randi Joseph Trina Josephson Larry Kenney Lyn Koehnline Valerie Komor Mary Kosinski Barbara McCorkle Michael Marsland Patrick Noon Joy Pepe Vince Raucci Liz Robinson Joe Szaszfai and Marjorie Wynne.
