About the book >.>.> Andre Andr? de Kervern was born in 1927 in Curepipe Mauritius. He left Mauritius in 1947 to study music in Paris and beginning in 1953 he taught in primary and secondary schools in the French capital. He has been devoted to postal history for more than 20 years and he collects old postcards of Mauritius and the Seychelles. The postcards unearthed from Parisian dea- lers come primarily from the turn-of-the-century col- lections of Mauritians. Yvan van Martial was born in Mauritius in 1942. He has been a journalist since 1975 and editor-in-chief of the Mauritian daily L’Express since January 1984. Since that year he has organised an annual poetry com- petition the Selmour Ahnee Prize and in 1986 he founded the history review La Gazette des lles de la Mer des Indes published quarterly. He has always taken a great interest in Mauritian history in old photo- graphs and prints of the island and in Mauritian postal history. He is currently preparing a new edition of the works of the Mauritian novelist Arthur Martial. (SP)
