About the book >.>.> Tile mosaic is a Seljuk contribution to the art of Asia Minor The Seljuks experimented with tile mosaic and developed it into a splendid and highly inspiring interior decoration element Anatolian architecture in contrast to the buildings on the Iranian plateau was primarily built in masonry with the effect that ceramic decoration was concentrated on the interior rather than the exterior with the exception of a few brick constructions. Turquoise is the main colour in this early penod with eggplant violet cobalt blue and black being the secondary colours. The mosaic is formed by tile pieces cut to shape to fit the desired pattern. The tile pieces with a slightly conical rear side are placed on a plam surface with their backs turned up and cemented by whitish mortar (MP)
