About the book >.>.> The inspiration for this project has been the sustained and thoroughly praiseworthy efforts of the Wrexham Maelor Borough Council to rescue conserve and make available to the public the extensive remains of the old lead and zinc mining indutry which are to be found at Minera. Any reader of this book who has not visited this site is advised to do so without delay. Members of the Welsh Mines Preservation Trust as their acknowledgement of the work done by the Council determined to produce a mining and quarrying history of Minera drawing in the first instance on their own knowledge of the area. However while a great part of the work has come from the pens of WMPT members we have also been fortunate to attract contributions from other well-qualified local writers to bolster our efforts. For their exemplary written contributions thanks are due to Peter Appleton David Bick Clifford Davies Bryn Ellis George Hall and Alan Williams while Rob Vernon has produced admirable graphs and plans. Bill Slater and Christopher Williams have not only performed as writers but representing the Wrexham Maelor Borough Council and the Clwyd Record Office respectively. (LL)
