About the book >.>.> The Roman Inscriptions of Britain is the definitive publication of inscriptions and inscribed objects from Britain in the Roman period. This facsimile edition of Volume I (first published in 1965) contains the 2400 stone inscriptions discovered before 1955 together with Addenda and Corrigenda by R.S.O. Tomlin which collect and evaluate the new evidence and scholarship of thirty-five years from 1960 to 1995. There is also a new glossary of military terms and two new concordances. The text gives a description bibliography transcription and translation of each inscription with critical apparatus and notes where necessary. Almost every inscription is illustrated by a line drawing and fifty-eight by a photograph. Volume II now published in eight fascicules (1990-95) contains inscribed objects (Instrumentum Domesticum) discovered before 1987. There is a separate Index to Volume I (first published in 1983) and to Volume II (now published in 1995). Stone inscriptions discovered since 1954 will be published in a future Volume III. (OS)
