Eardley’s de love of humanity was manifest in images of the res ience of the human spirit among the poor the old ar the very young. Such was the impact of her painting that she was perceived as a young member of the pos war British avant garde and her works were bought b galleries throughout Britain. Additionally her landscap paintings mostly of Catterline on the north-east coas of Scotland saw Eardley using techniques in tune wit Abstract Expressionism from America and Tachism from Europe.
