This Rowan Patchwork & Quilting book is styled by Kaffe Fassett and photographed by Debbie Patterson in the dramatic Pennine land- scape of Yorkshire amongst the barns and lichen encrusted mossy dry-stone walls that are so characteristic of the roadside scene in this part of Northern England. In keeping with the northern feel of this book we have a fascinating feature on the internationally celebrated textile artist Janet Bolton written by Mary LaTrobe Bateman. To accompany the article Janet has designed an applique panel. Two Birds in a Sunny Garden” com- plete in itself is open to interpretation. Janet hopes it will be a start- ing point for exploration and development of your ideas. Our other new contributors are Keiko Goke from Japan and Hilde Aanerud Krohg from Norway. Keiko’s brilliantly coloured ‘scrap quilt ‘Rowan’s Baby Blocks’ is great fun to make. Three unusual patchwork cat toys complete the story.
