About the book >.>.> THE STORY OF the Glider Pilot Regiment is one of the most exciting as well as one of the most heroic of the war. It is a story of courage and enthusiasm of a battling against great difficulties raised by ignorance and bureaucracy of vision of deep confi- dence of persistence in ideas and ideals. It is in fact a minor epic. And the regi- mental battle honours of this gallant little body of men-never numbering more than five thousand-include Norway Sicily Normandy the South of France Arnhem and the Rhine-every major campaign of the European theatre; and the regiment saw active service in Yugoslavia and Greece Italy and Burma. Yet inexplicably the story has never before been told. Ronald Seth was a British agent from 1942 to 1945. Captured soon after landing in enemy-occupied territory he was kept for the greater part of the time in solitary confinement and in ignorance of what was happening in the world. Since the end of hostilities he has been piecing together for his own enlightenment the events of 1942 to 1945 which he says appear to him even at this short remove as much history as the life and times of Elizabeth Tudor. It is with a delightful sense of discovery therefore that he ex- presses here his admiration for the persist- ence and heroism of the men who formed and organised the Glider Pilot Regiment and operated in it so faithfully that their motto-” Nothing Is Impossible”-was never just an idle boast.
