About the book >.>.> It is not in the remit of this series to investigate this any further but we hope that in presenting the intelligence reports and photos in this chronological format readers will be inspired to delve further into the archives to find more about this fascinating period of our history. This research of course was started on those summer days in 1940 by the men of the RAF Air Intelligence branch. We are delighted to be able to present in this volume pages from one of these men’s diary S John Peskett. He was tasked with visiting many of the Bf110 crash sites in Essex in early September and in all cases he made notes based upon the form seen here to the left. Having made his notes he would then phone this information back to the central office in London where it would be typed up as the official report. Those journeys around south-east England with the Battle still raging overhead and with most road signs removed must have been quite an adventure especially without the modern comfort of motorways and sat-navs!
