About the book >.>.> I started sewing at a very early age (there’s still a tiny rabbit in 1970s towelling somewhere in my mum’s house!). As a child I was never happy unless I was making something. I would do my best to assist my mum when she was making small fundraising items for our local nursery school attempt to make everything they made on Blue Peter (sorry mum for emptying an entire bottle of washing-up liquid down the sink because I needed the bottle) and spend hours with my dad a joiner building go-karts in his shed. If you’ve never seen a go-kart ‘pimped’ by a seven-year-old then you’re missing out! I knew I wanted to make things for a living but I was unaware of what job I could get that would scratch that itch. I left school and started to work for Laura Ashley as a seamstress. I learned a lot about construction and quality (they were extremely strict!) but soon began to make plans to go to university and learn more about design. During my years at university I met two people who would prove to be a great influence on my life: Peter who taught pattern drafting and fabric manipulation (I still use similar techniques when working out how to make a flat fabric into a 3D shape and clothing is a big part of my characters too) (LL)
