About the book >.>.> The decision of getting together in order to host an international contemporary art biennial such as Manifesta 7 once again reveals the desire to measure the high level initiatives – born on our territory through a great proposal acclaimed at an international level. Thanks to MART Museion and Manifesta 7 hosted in four different sites in our region Trentino – South Tyrol find their definitive place on the geographical map of Europe as one of the cho- sen centers for the production and promotion of contemporary art. The two provincial governments have pro- vided for building reconstruction there where such works seemed relevant in order to allow e for the use of the building entrusted to Mani- festa 7. These structures in the future and – within an artistic context might be used in a different way. All the chosen sites to host Manifesta 7 are in fact spectacular and at the same time gather in themselves the particular features of the history of our territory. The For- – tress of the middle of the 19th century carries with itself the history of South Tyrol character- ized for centuries by the Habsburgs. (MP)
