About the book >.>.> The greater part of drawings now on exhibition in the Department of Prints and Drawings is the property of John Evelyn Esq. of Wotton in Surrey England. Together with other parts of the John Evelyn collection they are kept by the Hon. Sherman Stonor at Stonor Park Henley-on-Tha- mes England. Our grateful thanks have to be tendered to Mr. Evelyn and quite particularly to Major Stonor who has taken upon himself the reponsibility of lending us the entire collection of drawings by and after Melchior Lorck for examination and exhibition. It is to be hoped that this friendly act of confidence will be appreciated as well by the Danish public which now for some months will be provided with a unique opportunity of acquainting itself more tho- roughly than ever before with an attractive part of the work of the first important master to have appeared within the history of Danish art. Our sincere gratitude should also be expressed towards Mr. J. Byam Shaw without whose unfailing interest and prompt assistance this exhibition would not have been possible.
