About the book >.>.> The history of the GWR in West Wales has been poorly serviced by Railway Historians in recent times. A sad fact as it is an area of possibly greater variety than almost any other. Arguably the most fasci- nating of all these locations must be Neyland or New Milford as it was once called formerly the principal port of embarkation to Ireland from the Welsh Coast it rise to fame came quickly and was also destined to be equally rapid in its decline. Following this fish traffic was prominent but that too was lost to its neighbours in the early part of the 20th century. The result was a location whose resources were for the greater part of the 20th centu- ry under-utilised and certainly under fund- ed when it came to necessary maintenance. For the first time then here is the story of the once great ferry and fishing port. Its railway maritime heritage and people brought to life through a carefully bal- anced text complimented by quality con- temporary illustrations. Richard Parker has succeeded in filling a gap amongst the annals of history which will surely be welcomed by both enthusi- ast and inhabitant alike.
