About the book >.>.> Over 300 photographs were published in the First Volume in 1979 to commemorate our Golden Jubilee but many buildings have been replaced since then as you will see in this Volume together with more old photographs of our village that have also come to light. Plus a complete chapter on the most famous Victorian to live in our parish-I. K. Brunel thanks to Geoffrey Tudor. Mrs White has also produced more gleanings from the older inhabitants and other long established families have brought forth photographs and information for which we are very grateful. The First Volume was a “Limited Edition” of 1200 financed by the printers and one of my companies and it took 212 years to place the 1200 copies but ever since we have had continuous requests for copies hence you will find some information statistics and the chronological records of happenings reprinted having beenupdated and added to. Copies of the First Volume were given to all the local schools for their libraries; the Museum Borough Library and County Records Office for the benefit of future generations and both Mrs White and I have been called upon on numerous occasions to address local schoolchildren which we hope with the aid of these Volumes will continue to keep the interest in our local history alive.
