About the book >.>.> The year 2023 marked the tenth anniversary of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul (MMCA Seoul). Founded in 1969 inside the Gyeongbokgung Palace the museum opened its new Gwacheon venue in 1986. With the establishment of the Deoksugung venue in 1998 which focused on Korean art after the late Joseon Dynasty the museum opened the Seoul venue in 2013 the largest in Asia at the time in the center of Seoul to serve as an institution that embraces the diversity of global contemporary art. With the opening of the Seoul venue the museum signaled the broadening of the scope of its research by including both modern and contemporary in its English name for the first time. With the addition of the Cheongju venue in 2018 which strengthened its collection management and art conservation the MMCA now operates four museums. (LL)
